Calgary Flames

Goaltender Jacob Markstrom was not at practice for the Calgary Flames on Wednesday because of an illness, reports TSN's Salim Valji.

The Flames open their season at home against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. 

In 63 regular-season games in 2021-22, Markstrom posted a 2.22 goals-against average, .922 save percentage and went 37-15-9.


Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets will be without goalie Elvis Merzlikins due to illness when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday.

In a corresponding move, netminder Jet Greaves of the Cleveland Monsters has been added to the roster on emergency recall, the Blue Jackets announced. 

Merzlikins, 28, went 27-23-7 in 59 appearances for Columbus last season with a 3.22 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. 


Edmonton Oilers

Forward Devin Shore has been recalled from the Bakersfield Condors as the Edmonton Oilers prepare to host the Vancouver Canucks tonight.

Shore, 28, played 49 games for the Oilers last season, scoring five goals and adding six assists.

In 375 career games, the Ajax, Ont., native has 49 goals and 77 helpers. 

Edmonton also said defenceman Philp Broberg has been loaned to the Condors, the team's AHL affiliate.

Rishaug also reports that Oliver Ekman-Larsson was not on the ice this morning, however coach Bruce Boudreau said the defenceman is fine and will suit up against the Oilers.
