CSKA Moscow general manager Sergei Fedorov says Nikita Zaitsev is bound for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and that the KHL defenceman has had a deal in place since last year.
Fedorov reportedly made the announcement to reporters on Wednesday. CSKA Moscow is currently tied 2-2 after four games in the Gagarin Cup Final of the KHL playoffs.
Zaitsev, 24, scored eight goals and added 18 assists in 46 games this season. He was also plus-20.
In the playoffs, the right-hand shot has scored four goals and 13 points in 17 games.
Zaitsev scored a career-high 12 goals and 32 points in 57 games with CSKA last season.
He will turn 25 on October 29.
