New York Giants running back Shane Vereen will miss at least eight weeks and possibly the remainder of the 2016 season due to a triceps injury, the team announced Monday.
Vereen, 27, rushed 11 times for 67 yards and a touchdown against the Washington Redskins in Sunday's 29-27 loss. He added two catches for 28 yards.
Through three games, Vereen had rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown with a 4.7 yards per carry average.
Vereen got the start against the Redskins as Rashad Jennings sat out with a hand injury. Orleans Darkwa, Bobby Rainey and Paul Perkins fill out the depth chart behind Jennings, who could miss the team's Week 4 contest as well.
