Washington maintains its standing as the NHL's No. 1 team in the weekly 7-Eleven Power Rankings, but the bigger news is that four Canadian teams are sitting in the top 10.
Nine days from the start of the 2017 playoffs, red-hot Edmonton is ranked No. 5 in the league, followed by No. 7 Montreal, No. 9 Calgary and hard-charging Toronto at No. 10.
The 7-Eleven rankings reflect the consensus choices of a TSN panel featuring Ray Ferraro, Jeff O'Neill, Jamie McLennan, Craig Button and Darren Dreger.
Toronto recorded the biggest jump among the top teams, moving four places from No. 14 to 10. Edmonton (7 to 5) and Montreal (9 to 7) both moved up two slots and Calgary fell back (6 to 9). Ottawa, losers of four straight games and three top defencemen to injury, fell from No. 13 to 16, while Winnipeg's late-season hot streak moved them from No. 25 to. 21.
