Brad Marchand hit the ice at Boston Bruins camp wearing a red non-contact jersey Monday, but said he plans to be ready for the team's opening game.

"I plan to be" Marchand said, per Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com. "That's what we're shooting for."

David Pastrnak, however, has been ruled out for the start of the season, head coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed. He had hip surgery in September.

The 32-year-old Marchand underwent surgery in October for a sports hernia.

Heading into his 12th NHL season, Marchand appeared in 70 games in 2019-2020, scoring 28 goals and adding 59 assists. His 87 points were sixth-most in the league last season and second on the Bruins behind Pastrnak's 95.
