Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs recalled winger Andreas Johnsson and defenceman Calle Rosen from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis. Rosen, 24, has four games of NHL experience in his career while Johnsson, 23, has netted 26 goals and 28 assists over 54 games in the AHL this season, but has never appeared in a NHL game. - Kristen Shilton

Injured forward Auston Matthews, who has missed the last six games with a shoulder injury, was wearing a red no-contact jersey at practice once again on Tuesday. He's unlikely to play Wednesday against the Dallas Stars, but could make his return soon after. Defencemen Travis Dermott and Nikita Zaitsev were not at practice on Tuesday. Both defencemen are dealing with the flu. - Mark Masters, TSN

Johnsson skated on the fourth line during Tuesday's practice with Tomas Plekanec and Kasperi Kapanen, while Josh Leivo and Dominic Moore skated as defencemen. Head coach Mike Babcock confirmed after practice Johnsson will make his NHL debut Wednesday against the Dallas Stars.

Calgary Flames

Matthew Tkachuk sat out Monday's practice for a 'maintenance day' after leaving Sunday's game against the New York Islanders in the third period with an apparent head injury. On Tuesday, the 20-year-old was absent from the Flames' optional skate as the team prepares for a clash against the Edmonton Oilers. Sean Monahan also missed the optional skate. - Jermain Franklin, TSN

After practice, head coach Glen Gulutzan confirmed Tkachuk will miss Tuesday's game against the Oilers with an upper-body injury and will be replaced by Chris Stewart. Monahan will be in the lineup. - Jermain Franklin, TSN

#Flames optional skate but the fact that Tkachuk isn't skating again which is a concern. Bennett was skating in Tkachuk's spot with Backlund and Frolik... Monahan didn't skate either.
