Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators announced Thursday they have recalled goaltender Kevin Mandolese from the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League. 

TSN's Claire Hanna adds that Talbot will not be available till after the All-Star break (All-Star Skills on Feb. 3 and All-Star Game on Feb. 4) and Mads Sogaard, who has played 18 games for the AHL's Senators, is dealing with an injury. 


Montreal Canadiens 

Montreal Canadiens forward Sean Monahan did not participate in Thursday's morning skate, according to TSN's Kenzie Lalonde.  

Markstrom's last start came on Jan. 18 against the defending Cup champion Colorado Avalanche, when the 32-year-old stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced. 

The Gavle, Sweden, native has made 32 starts for the Flames this season, posting a 13-12-5 record. A former Vancouver Canuck and 2022 Second-Team All-Star in 2022, Markstrom has a 2.82 GAA and a .895 save percentage. 


Washington Capitals 

After missing the Washington Capitals' last game against the Colorado Avalanche, Caps forward Nicklas Backstrom provided an update on his status to reports saying, "(I'm) feeling better. Good to go." 

The 35-year-old Sweden-born Backstrom last played on Jan. 21 against the Vegas Golden Knights, when he logged 15:25 minutes of ice time. Backstrom has played in seven games for the Capitals this season, having undergone off-season left hip resurfacing surgery on a nagging injury that had hampered his ability to skate.
