Top prospects Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine both scored in World Hockey Championship action Sunday, albeit in very different circumstances.

Matthews scored one of two goals for the United States in their upset loss to Germany early Sunday while Laine tacked on a little icing on the cake for Finland, scoring with three seconds left in the third period to cap a 5-0 rout of Slovakia.

For Matthews, it was his third goal of the tournament and sixth point. Laine's late goal was his sixth of the tournament and 10th point. Laine is tied for the tournament lead in both goals and points through six games.

Matthews finished with 19 minutes and 23 seconds of ice time against Germany, more than any other American forward. Laine clocked 14 minutes and 55 seconds for the Fins.

The Americans sit fourth in Group B through six games with three wins and three loses. The Fins are first in the group with a perfect 6-0 record.
