McDavid Magic:  Connor McDavid had five points, while Jordan Eberle and Benoit Pouliot had four each as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 last night. Eberle netted his first career hat trick while McDavid had his best NHL night to date against the team he cheered for growing up. The loss dropped the Maple Leafs into last place in the NHL standings.

Around the NHL:  Jarome Iginla scored two goals and the Colorado Avalanche spoiled Dion Phaneuf's home debut with a 4-3 win over the Senators. Phaneuf picked up a pair of assists in the defeat. Elsewhere, the Boston Bruins beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-2, the Calgary Flames edged the San Jose Sharks 6-5 in a shootout, Alex Ovechkin had a hat trick in Washington's 4-3 win over the Wild, while Patrick Eaves also had three goals as Dallas beat Chicago 4-2.
