VAL-D'OR, Que. - A day after a double-overtime win, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar kept the momentum going on Saturday night.
Jeremy Gregoire had a hat trick and added two assists as the Drakkar routed the Val-d'Or Foreurs 9-1 to take a 2-0 lead in their second-round, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series.
Luca Ciampini and Maxime St-Cyr both struck twice for Baie-Comeau, which hosts Game 3 on Tuesday. Matthieu Desautels and Frederic Gamelin adding the others. The bulk of the Drakkar offence came in the second period, when they exploded for five goals.
Val-d'Or's Anthony Richard opened the scoring with his fifth of the post-season in the first period.
Philippe Cadorette turned aside 35 shots for the win. Keven Bouchard took the loss after kicking out 13-of-17 shots in 30:18 before being pulled. Etienne Montpetit made 10 saves in 28:02 of relief.
Baie-Comeau scored twice on eight power plays while the Foreurs were scoreless on eight chances.

Christopher Clapperton, on the power play, and Deven St-Hilaire, into an empty net, provided the rest of the offence for Rimouski.

MONCTON, N.B. — Maxime Fortier and Timo Meier both scored two goals and added an assist to give Halifax a 2-0 lead over the Wildcats in its second-round playoff series.
Vincent Watt also had a pair of goals for the Mooseheads, which host Game 3 on Tuesday.
Adam Holwell, Stephen Johnson and Bronson Beaton scored for Moncton.
