After an off-season of rumours that he may be on his way out in San Diego, Philip Rivers said he'd be open to remaining with the team long term.

Speaking to reporters for the first time since last season at Chargers off-season workouts, Rivers said he’s put in 11 years with the organization and hasn’t yet reached the ultimate goal so it would be “awesome” to stay to get there.

After speculation that Rivers wasn’t willing to sign a long-term extension in San Diego, the veteran quarterback said he’s willing to listen to offers from the team during the off-season but warned that there was nothing new regarding discussions at this time and that he currently has no expectations for getting a deal done before the start of the season.

Rivers is entering the final year of his contract.
