The Dallas Stars have returned to top spot in the TSN.ca NHL Power Rankings, ahead of the St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens.
The Stars have won seven of eight games and while their up-tempo style can result in the occasional clunker, more often than not, the Stars just skate away from the opposition.
Teams moving up this week include the New York Islanders, going from 17 to 10 after a 3-0-1 week, while the Anaheim Ducks' slow climb from their deep hole continues, up from 26 to 23.
Going down, the Nashille Predators are having problems scoring and slide from five to eight, the Minnesota Wild drop from eight to 14, the Winnipeg Jets fall from 18 to 22 and the Carolina Hurricanes -- another team having trouble offensively -- now sit at 27, down from 23.
Among other Canadian teams, the Ottawa Senators are down from 12 to 15, the Vancouver Canucks are up one spot from 21 to 20, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are down one spot to 26.
Alberta's representatives hold down the bottom two spots, with the Edmonton Oilers at 29 and the Calgary Flames at 30.
