BASEL, Switzerland - Swiss champion Basel says it has agreed to terminate coach Paulo Sousa's contract after just one season.
The former Portugal, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund midfielder is widely expected to take the vacant coaching position at Serie A club Fiorentina.
Sousa led Basel to the Swiss title and the last 16 of the Champions League in the first year of a three-year contract.
Fiorentina would become 44-year-old Sousa's seventh club coaching job in eight seasons.
