Maier faces pressure from Bethel-Thompson for Redblacks' starting job

CFL Insiders Dave Naylor and Farhan Lalji discuss how bad of a look it would be for Ottawa if QB Dru Brown and the Bombers go in and lay a beating on the Redblacks not long after Brown was traded back to Winnipeg, when Ottawa might replace starter Jake Maier with McLeod Bethel-Thompson, the Ticats adding some potential reinforcements at quarterback, and more.

Collaros back practicing with Blue Bombers, Brown taking first team reps

The Bombers took the practice field Tuesday in preparation for the team’s Week 7 matchup against the Redblacks, with the quarterback situation being the focus. After suffering an upper-body injury in the team’s 14-13 victory over the Tiger-Cats in Week 5, the 37-year-old Zach Collaros was ruled out for Winnipeg’s matchup against the Argonauts last week. It was the newly-acquired Dru Brown stepping in for the Bombers and leading the team to the win.

CFL: Tiger-Cats 7, Roughriders 38

Trevor Harris tossed two touchdown passes and the Roughriders dominated on defence to roll past the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton's first start without Bo Levi Mitchell this season. Josh Woods had a 107-yard interception return TD for Saskatchewan, which held Jake Dolegala to 122 passing yards.

CFL: Stampeders 30, Alouettes 37

Davis Alexander passed for 301 yards and touchdown, Tyson Philpot continued his record-breaking pace with 132 receiving yards and a TD, and the Alouettes overcame another big performance from Vernon Adams Jr. to beat the Stampeders on Saturday. Travis Theis added 100 all-purpose yards and a rushing score for Montreal.
