Luke Donald has decided to return as Ryder Cup captain for Europe with a shot at making history as the only captain to win three straight times.
Rory McIlroy said he got a personal apology from PGA of America CEO Derek Sprague over the abuse he and his wife endured at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in September.
A two-time Ryder Cup competitor, Keegan Bradley was appointed captain of the U.S. team last year and brought a stacked squad to face Europe on New York’s Long Island. Although they were favored to win at home, the Americans fell into a 11 1/2-4 1/2 hole heading into the final day – the biggest Sunday morning deficit in modern Ryder Cup history.
Team Europe is taking the Ryder Cup back across the Atlantic Ocean, leaving the Americans to search for answers in what is becoming a lopsided series.
Rory McIlroy didn’t get it quite right when he said winning the Ryder Cup on the road was one of the greatest accomplishments in golf. He left out “for the Americans.”
