Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford is stepping away from the team effective immediately to address his health, the team announced Wednesday.
The Hornets said there is no timetable for his return to the team and out of respect for his privacy would have no comment on his condition.
Associate head coach Stephen Silas will serve as acting head coach until Clifford returns.
The Hornets sit third in the Southeast Division with a 9-13 record this season.
