Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered and scored twice, Kevin Gausman pitched six shutout innings and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the slumping Detroit Tigers 4-1 on Sunday.


MLB: Padres 7, Mariners 4

Nick Castellanos hit a three-run homer, Rodolfo Duran went deep for his first career hit, and Gavin Sheets also connected in the Padres' win over the Mariners on Saturday. Walker Buehler allowed two runs in five innings as San Diego improved to 5-0 this season against its West Coast rival.

Luke Weaver escaped a seventh-inning, bases-loaded, no-outs jam when he entered to face his former team for the first time, and the Mets beat the Yankees to even their weekend Subway Series at one game apiece. Mark Vientos had three RBI and Juan Soto had two hits and two walks as the Mets won for the fourth time in five games.

Report: Blue Jays starting pitcher Berrios to have surgery on pitching elbow

Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios will have surgery on his pitching elbow on Wednesday to address a stress fracture, according to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson. Berrios, 31, has not played at the big-league level this season as he continues to deal with a stress fracture in his pitching elbow suffered during Spring Training in February.
