Blue Jays' Bieber battered in triple-A rehab outing

Working his was back to the Blue Jays from offseason forearm fatigue, Shane Bieber was roughed up in his triple-A rehab outing on Saturday. Bieber allowed six hits and three earned runs while striking out three and walking none in 2 2/3 innings against the Worcester Red Sox.

Adley Rutschman homered and had four hits and five RBI in the Orioles' victory over the Blue Jays, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games.

Chad Dallas allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings in his major league debut and combined with five other Toronto pitchers on a four-hitter as the Blue Jays beat Chris Sale and the Braves to end a four-game losing streak. Myles Straw drove in three runs on two hits in Toronto's 16-hit attack.

Shohei Ohtani threw six scoreless innings, Kyle Tucker hit a two-run homer into the Chase Field pool, and the Dodgers routed the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night. Ohtani allowed two hits and struck out six while lowering his major league-best ERA to 0.74.

Cam Smith hit a tiebreaking two-run triple to cap Houston’s six-run eighth inning, Isaac Paredes homered, and the Astros overcame a five-run deficit to beat the Pirates on Wednesday night.

Cristopher Sánchez ran his consecutive shutout innings streak to 50 2/3 before allowing a run and earned the win after J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber homered in the seventh inning, leading the Phillies to a victory over the Padres on Wednesday night.

Bryce Harper hit his 377th career home run and Jhoan Duran struck out the side in a perfect ninth for his 13th save to lead the Phillies to a win over the Padres.

Ben Rice had two extra-base hits and four RBI in a 13-run third inning that was the biggest for the New York Yankees in 21 years, carrying them to a 13-8 victory over the Athletics on Sunday.


MLB: Blue Jays 5, Orioles 9

Kyle Bradish pitched seven innings of four-hit ball, Colton Cowser homered and drove in four runs and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 Sunday. Blue Jays right fielder Jesús Sánchez left the game in the sixth inning with bruised right wrist after apparently being struck by a ball thrown from the bleachers during a stoppage in play. X-rays were negative.


Scherzer sharp in rehab outing with Triple-A Buffalo

Max Scherzer struck out four and gave up zero hits over three scoreless innings during his rebab outing with Triple-A Buffalo. The 41-year-old has been on the 15-day injured list since April 25 with forearm tendinitis and ankle inflammation.
