Rob Refsnyder and Julio Rodríguez hit three-run home runs and Logan Gilbert threw six shutout innings as the Mariners beat the Athletics on Wednesday to complete a series sweep and move into first place in the AL West.

Left-hander Cristopher Sánchez pitched seven brilliant innings, extending his scoreless streak to 44 2/3 innings and passing Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander for the Phillies franchise record, in a shutout win Wednesday against the Padres for a three-game sweep.

Mike Soroka limited San Francisco to two runs on four hits in six innings, Geraldo Perdomo broke a seventh-inning tie with a sacrifice fly and the Diamondbacks beat the Giants on Wednesday for a three-game sweep.


MLB: Marlins 1, Blue Jays 2

Kazuma Okamoto hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning to lead the Blue Jays to their second straight victory over the Marlins. Kevin Gausman allowed one run and six hits in five innings and Tyler Rogers finished for his second save in four chances with Toronto, which won for the eighth time in 12 games.

Jesús Sánchez hit his first career grand slam, Ernie Clement and Yohendrick Piñango had solo home runs, and the Blue Jays beat the Marlins to halt Miami's winning streak at four. Sandy Alcantara gave up a season-high eight runs and matched a season-worst by allowing 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Janson Junk pitched five innings and won for the first time since April 28, Kyle Stowers and Javier Sanoja each had two doubles and two RBI, and the Marlins extended their winning streak to four games by beating the Blue Jays. Canadian outfielder Owen Caissie went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair as Miami improved to 14-5 all-time at Rogers Centre.
