Yesavage throws 2.1 innings, walks four in rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo

Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage made another rehab start with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday as he works his way back to the majors. Yesavage went 2.1 innings and was charged with four runs, two earned, with two strikeouts and four walks against the Columbus Clippers, an affiliate of the Guardians.

Lenyn Sosa had a pinch-hit, two-run double during a three-run eighth inning, reliever Louis Varland bailed out struggling closer Jeff Hoffman by inducing a game-ending double-play, and the Blue Jays held on for a win over the Angels. Ryan McMahon came off the bench and broke out of his season-long slump with a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning as the New York Yankees beat the skidding Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Friday night.

The Mets lost 12-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field, falling to 7-13 on the season. It is their 9th consecutive loss — the longest losing streak the franchise has endured since 2004.

Patrick Corbin had a much better start in his second game on the mound for the Jays allowing four hits and one run through 5 and 2/3 innings all while striking out six batters, but the Blue Jays' bats stayed cold while the Brewers capitalized on three straight bunts in the seventh to beat Toronto and win the series.
