The Red Sox landed All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman in a trade with the Orioles. While the Phillies acquired second baseman Luis Arraez and RHP Caleb Kilian from the Giants in exchange for a pair of minor-league pitchers.


Blue Jays acquire RHP Soriano from Angels; Phillies acquire 2B Arraez from Giants

The Los Angeles Angels have traded starting pitcher Jose Soriano to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Blue Jays announced. The Jays will send shortstop Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti, and RHP Angel Rivero to the Angels. In other big MLB trade deadline news, the San Francisco Giants have traded second baseman Luis Arraez to the Philadelphia Phillies, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.


Rays acquire Peralta; Yankees get 1B Garcia from Nationals

The New York Yankees Yankees are acquiring infielder Luis Garcia Jr. from the Nationals in exchange for four right-handed pitchers, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Sunday; and the Rays are acquiring right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets in exchange for three minor leaguers, the teams announced Sunday.


Blue Jays deal Gausman to Cubs, acquire RHP Taillon in separate transaction

The Blue Jays have reportedly dealt fan-favourite Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs for OF Brett Bateman and INF Ty Southisene. Gausman spent five seasons with the Jays, posting an ERA of 3.62. The Blue Jays also acquired Canadian right-hander Jameson Taillon and cash from the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations in a separate transaction, it was announced Sunday afternoon.


MLB: White Sox 9, Rays 1

Anthony Kay tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings, Andrew Benintendi, Everson Pereira and Miguel Vargas hit home runs, and the Chicago White Sox beat the AL-leading Tampa Bay Rays 9-1 on Sunday.

José Caballero lined a two-run homer, Gerrit Cole pitched into the sixth inning and the New York Yankees hung on to top the Chicago Cubs 2-1 on Sunday.

MLB: Nationals 2, Braves 4

Mike Yastrzemski homered and drove in two runs and the Atlanta Braves beat the slumping Washington Nationals 4-2 on Sunday to complete a rare four-game sweep.
