Jose Ramírez homered, hit his 1,000th career single and drove in four while Parker Messick struck out five and gave up one run in six innings to lead the Cleveland Guardians past the Kansas City Royals 11-1 on Sunday.

MLB: Mariners 0, Blue Jays 7

Max Scherzer pitched seven spectacular innings, allowing only one hit and fanning 10 batters to pass Gaylord Perry for ninth on the all-time strikeout list, Alejandro Kirk had two hits, including a home run and 2 RBI, and the Blue Jays picked up their first sweep since June, besting the Seattle Mariners.

MLB: Reds 5, Cubs 17

Pete Crow-Armstrong homered three times and drove in six runs, helping the Cubs beat Sal Stewart and the Cincinnati Reds 17-5 on Saturday. Alex Bregman, Carson Kelly and Seiya Suzuki also went deep for Chicago.

MLB: Rangers 3, Brewers 5

Jackson Chourio and William Contreras homered in the first inning and the Milwaukee Brewers stayed ahead the rest of the way to defeat the Texas Rangers 5-3 on Saturday night. The Rangers remained two games behind AL West leader Houston, which lost 6-2 to the New York Mets earlier Saturday. Brandon Nimmo hit a two-run homer and Cody Freeman added a solo shot for Texas.

MLB: Red Sox 6, Yankees 0 (GM 1)

Ceddanne Rafaela recovered from misjudging a fly ball to center field in the fourth inning to get a runner at the plate a day after making two outs on the bases, and he hit an RBI single in a four-run ninth as the Red Sox beat the Yankees 6-0 in the opener of a doubleheader on Saturday.

MLB: Red Sox 2, Yankees 9 (GM 2)

After dropping the first game of the double header, the Yankees downed the Red Sox 9-2 on Saturday night. Ben Rice drove in three on a pair of hits and Luis Garcia Jr. had three hits and an RBI. Seven Yankee pitchers held the Sox to only a pair of runs on six hits to take Game 3 of their homestand.

Josh Rojas had his second career game with four RBI, Salvador Perez hit two doubles and the Kansas City Royals defeated the Cleveland Guardians 8-3 on Saturday for their 12th win in 13 games.

MLB: Mariners 3, Blue Jays 4

Alejandro Kirk drove in the tiebreaking run with a two-out single in the sixth inning and the Blue Jays beat the Mariners 4-3 on Saturday. José Soriano struck out six in seven innings to win for the second time in three starts. Soriano allowed three runs and three hits.
