Eduardo Valencia slapped his fifth homer of the season, and Keider Montero pitched three-hit ball into the seventh inning as the Tigers blanked the Guardians despite failing to record a strikeout.

Rookie Payton Tolle allowed two hits over eight innings, Caleb Durbin hit a grand slam, and the Red Sox ended their five-game skid with a victory over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Tolle struck out four, threw 91 pitches and retired his last 17 batters while matching the longest outing of his career.

Weston Wilson's fourth homerun of the season was the only offence in this one as Logan Gilbert struck out seven to help the Mariners snap a six-game slide.

MLB: Royals 2, Dodgers 4

Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Hunter Feduccia homered, and the revitalized Dodgers swept the Royals with a victory on Wednesday night. Eric Lauer pitched 6 1/3 innings of four-hit ball for the back-to-back defending World Series champions, who have won four of five.

MLB: Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 6

Kazuma Okamoto singled home Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for the go-ahead run and Myles Straw had a two-run double in a five-run eighth inning, as the Blue Jays topped the Red Sox for their third straight victory.

Alex Bregman hit three homers in a game for the first time and drove in a career-high seven runs as the Cubs routed the Nationals on Wednesday night. Chicago has won eight of nine and is a season-high 21 games over .500.

MLB: Brewers 3, Padres 4 (11)

Jackson Merrill hit a tying sacrifice fly in the 11th inning and Luis Campusano followed with a two-out single to bring in Sun-Mung Song from second base as the Padres beat the MLB-leading Brewers on Wednesday for a three-game sweep.

MLB: Mariners 5, Yankees 10

Trent Grisham homered twice and hit a go-ahead double in the seventh inning as the Yankees erased an early deficit and pulled away for a victory over the skidding Mariners on Wednesday night.

MLB: Guardians 6, Tigers 4

Jo Adell homered and Angel Martínez had three hits as the Guardians defeated the Tigers on Wednesday night to snap a three-game skid.

MLB: Astros 2, Giants 1

Nick Allen hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, Steven Okert led an Astros bullpen that allowed just one run and Houston beat Giants. Houston won the series to finish 3-3 on its trip.

MLB: Rays 8, Athletics 4

The AL-best Rays became the second East Coast team in major league history to go 9-0 on a West Coast trip, beating the Athletics behind a three-run homer from Liam Hicks and another solid start by Drew Rasmussen.

MLB: Phillies 1, Cardinals 7

Alec Burleson drove in three runs, including a two-run double during a four-run fifth inning against Zack Wheeler, and the Cardinals beat the Phillies. Burleson finished 5-for-10 with two doubles and five RBI in the series as St. Louis took two of three from Philadelphia and moved one game over .500.

MLB: Royals 4, Dodgers 5 (10)

Max Muncy delivered a walk-off RBI single with the bases-loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Dodgers past the Royals. Blake Snell struck out 10 over six sharp innings in his return from the IL.

MLB: Rays 12, Athletics 4

Taylor Walls homered from both sides of the plate for the second time in his career, Nick Martinez tossed a complete game and the Rays beat the Athletics for their eighth win .
