MLB: Blue Jays 2, Rangers 6

Five relievers held Toronto to six hits after Cal Quantrill left 12 pitches in because of right lat tightness, and the Rangers moved into sole possession of the AL West lead for the first time since late August with a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday night.

MLB: Red Sox 1, Rays 2

Richie Palacios dropped a fly ball into shallow right in the ninth inning to score Junior Caminero and give the Rays a victory over the Red Sox on Saturday. Tampa Bay, which has three walk-off wins on its current homestand, lowered its magic number to clinch the AL East to five games.

MLB: Brewers 1, Orioles 0

Robert Gasser allowed three hits over seven innings, Abner Uribe worked around a leadoff single in the eighth, and Aaron Ashby pitched a perfect ninth to finish off Milwaukee's 11th shutout this season. Already assured of their fourth straight NL Central title, the Brewers tied a team record with their 97th win of the year.

MLB: Tigers 1, White Sox 3

Sean Burke pitched six effective innings, Miguel Vargas homered and the White Sox topped the Tigers on Saturday for a sorely needed victory. Holding down the final AL wild card spot, Chicago could become the first MLB team to make the playoffs after finishing with at least 100 losses in each of the previous two seasons.

MLB: Tigers 11, White Sox 8

Hao-Yu Lee and Riley Greene each hit a two-run homer in a five-run eighth inning as the Tigers rallied from six down to stun the White Sox on Friday night. Chicago (78-76) trails first-place Cleveland by one game in the AL Central with eight remaining, and has a one-game lead for the final American League wild card.

Corey Seager had an RBI double in a four-run second inning fueled by a throwing error, and the Rangers beat the Blue Jays on Friday in a matchup of AL playoff chasers. Dylan Cease walked a season-high six of his first 15 batters and was replaced with two outs in the third, as Toronto fell two games back in the wild-card race.

MLB: Athletics 3, Guardians 5

José Ramírez and rookie Travis Bazzana homered and Joey Cantillo pitched six scoreless innings as the Guardians rallied to beat the Athletics on Friday night and stay atop the AL Central. Cleveland, 18-9 since Aug. 20, came in tied with Chicago for first in the division.

MLB: Red Sox 4, Rangers 3

Trevor Story hit a three-run home run off All-Star closer Jacob Latz in the eighth inning, capping a comeback from a three-run deficit as the Red Sox beat Texas and dropped the Rangers out of the AL West lead. Texas had won four straight games to gain a share of the lead but dropped one game behind Houston, which holds the tiebreaker. The Rangers trail by two games for the last AL wild card.

MLB: Tigers 1, White Sox 3

Munetaka Murakami hit his team-leading 32nd home run and the White Sox moved into a tie with the idle Guardians for first place in the AL Central with a win over the Tigers.

MLB: Athletics 1, Rays 10

Drew Rasmussen pitched five scoreless innings and the Rays opened a five-game AL East lead with a win over the Athletics on Thursday that extended their winning streak to six.

MLB: Dodgers 8, Reds 2

The Dodgers clinched their fifth consecutive NL West division title and 13th in 14 seasons, sparked by four hits from Kyle Tucker that included a first-inning home run in a win over the Reds.

MLB: Red Sox 3, Rangers 7

Brandon Nimmo hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh inning before Ezequiel Duran added a two-run single, and the surging Rangers beat the Red Sox on Wednesday night to pull even with Houston atop the AL West.
