Blue Jays right fielder Jesús Sánchez left the game in the sixth inning with bruised right wrist after apparently being struck by a ball thrown from the bleachers during a stoppage in play. X-rays were negative.

Scherzer sharp in rehab outing with Triple-A Buffalo

Max Scherzer struck out four and gave up zero hits over three scoreless innings during his rebab outing with Triple-A Buffalo. The 41-year-old has been on the 15-day injured list since April 25 with forearm tendinitis and ankle inflammation.

Blue Jays’ Sanchez suffers wrist contusion after being hit with ball from stands

Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jesus Sanchez left Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles in the top of the sixth inning after being hit with a ball that came from the right field stands. The team later announced Sanchez was removed from the game with a right wrist contusion. He underwent precautionary x-rays, which came back negative for a fracture.

Up 5-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, Jeff Hoffman gave up five earned runs in a third of an inning pitched as the Blue Jays' four-game win streak came to an end. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had his first four-hit game since September 5th in the loss.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run double in the eighth inning to cap a furious Toronto rally as the Blue Jays beat the Orioles. Toronto trailed 5-0 at the start of the seventh before a couple of two-run homers from Kazuma Okamoto and Charles McAdoo. It was the first big league hit for McAdoo, who was making his debut.

Ian Happ homered for the second consecutive game and the Cubs handed Paul Skenes his third straight loss with a victory over the Pirates on Thursday. Colin Rea won for the first time in five starts, allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Kevin Gausman allowed one run and six hits in five innings and Tyler Rogers finished for his second save in four chances with Toronto, which won for the eighth time in 12 games.
