Dylan Beavers had a two-run single in a four-run first inning for Baltimore, which avoided a three-game sweep and won for the 11th time in 16 games.

Joey Ortiz went 3 for 3 and was a homer away from the cycle to help the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the New York Mets 4-3 on Wednesday.


MLB: Orioles 3, Red Sox 6 (GM 1)

The Boston Red Sox won their 15th straight game to match a club record for the longest winning streak in team history from 80 years ago, beating the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 in the opener of a split doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.

Jared Triolo and Jake Mangum hit run-scoring singles against Fernando Cruz in the 10th inning, Jacob Gonzalez and Nick Gonzales homered off Gerrit Cole and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the New York Yankees 5-3 in the opener of a day-night doubleheader.


Blue Jays look to stop the skid against the Rays

After dropping the first two games of their series with the Rays, the Toronto Blue Jays will look to stop the skid in their third game at the Dome. The club has been outscored 34-8 since returning from the All-Star break, and have dropped four of their last five.
