James McCann hit his first two home runs of the season and had four RBI, Brandon Pfaadt made it three wins in three starts since returning to the rotation, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-2 on Saturday night.


MLB: Blue Jays 7, Padres 8

Ty France hit the go-ahead home run, Sung-Mun Song and Manny Machado each drove in two runs and the San Diego Padres beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7 on Saturday night to even the three-game series.


MLB: Yankees 4, Nationals 2

Trent Grisham's two-run homer in of the eighth inning gave the Yankees another comeback victory over the Nationals' bullpen, giving Aaron Boone his 750th win as New York's manager. Paul Goldschmidt also went deep for his first home run since June 24.

MLB: Red Sox 6, Mets 2

Sonny Gray shook off travel woes that led to the Red Sox making a late arrival to New York, pitching six strong innings as Boston beat the Mets on Friday night for a seventh straight victory. Anthony Seigler and Wilyer Abreu each hit two-run homers while Masataka Yoshida doubled twice and drove in two runs for the Red Sox.


MLB: Athletics 1, White Sox 14

Canadian Tristan Peters had his first career cycle, Sean Burke pitched seven innings of one-run ball and the White Sox had an eight-run seventh inning to dismantle the Athletics. Peters doubled in the third and had an RBI single in the fifth, then had two hits in the seventh — a two-run homer to center and an RBI triple.


MLB: Blue Jays 5, Padres 3

Kazuma Okamoto hit his 22nd home run to tie Shohei Ohtani for the most by a Japanese-born rookie in a season in the majors and lead the Blue Jays to a victory over the Padres on Friday night. Toronto snapped a three-game losing streak while handing San Diego its 11th loss in 14 games.


MLB: Athletics 1, Tigers 4

Eduardo Valencia became the 10th Detroit player to homer in his first career plate appearance, Framber Valdez pitched seven innings and the Tigers beat the Athletics for a series sweep.


MLB: Royals 3, Mets 7

Tyrone Taylor, who entered when Mark Vientos suffered a fractured right hand after being hit by a pitch, hit the game-tying homer to start a five-run fifth inning Thursday, powering the Mets to a win over the Royals.


MLB: Braves 10, Pirates 5

Matt Olson homered for the fifth time in his past seven games, Jim Jarvis homered for the first time in his career and Mike Yastrzemski launched a ninth-inning grand slam as the Braves outlasted the Pirates.
