LAKERS EYEING GASOL
Free agent centre Marc Gasol has emerged as a free agent target for the Los Angeles Lakers to fill the void at centre created by Dwight Howard's departure to the Philadelphia 76ers, reports Marc Stein of the New York Times.
The move would come as a bit of a surprise as multiple reports from earlier in the off-season indicated Gasol was strongly considering returning to Spain to play with FCB Barcelona.
Gasol spent the past season and a half with the Toronto Raptors, helping them to their first championship in franchise history in 2019.
BURKE STAYING PUT
The Dallas Mavericks are signing guard Trey Burke to a three-year deal in the $10 million range according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.
PISTONS MAKE ANOTHER MOVE
The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a deal with forward Josh Jackson according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
PATTERSON STICKS WITH CLIPPERS
Bench player Patrick Patterson is re-signing with the Los Angeles Clippers with a one-year deal, reports Wojnarowski.
PLUMLEE, OKAFOR HEADING TO MOTOWN
The Detroit Pistons are signing centre Mason Plumlee to a three-year, $25 million deal, his agent Mark Bartelstein tells ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Pistons have also inked centre Jahlil Okafor to a two-year deal, reports Wojnarowski.
Eubanks stays with Spurs
Drew Eubanks is staying with the San Antonio Spurs, signing a three-year contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
MATTHEWS TO L.A.
Free agent small forward Wesley Matthews is planning on signing with the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The deal is worth $3.6 million for one season.
HAYWARD RETURNING TO SOUTH BEACH
Point guard Gordan Dragic is staying with the Miami Heat, he announced Friday night.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reports it will be a two-year deal worth $37.4 million.
PACERS EYEING HAYWARD?
The Indiana Pacers are exploring the possibility of a sign-and-trade with the Boston Celtics to acquire Gordon Hayward, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.
Stein adds the New York Knicks are also a suitor for Hayward, who opted out of his $34 million deal for the 2020-21 season on Thursday.
Hayward, 30, has spent the past three seasons with the Celtics after signing a reported four-year, $128 million contract in July of 2017. He began his career with the Utah Jazz, whom he spent the first seven seasons of his career with.
Hayward, who was named an all-star in 2017, has averaged 15.3 points and 4.4 rebounds over his 10 seasons in the NBA.
Bucks moving on from Bogdanovic
The Milwaukee Bucks are moving on from Bogdan Bogdanovic, who elected to pursue restricted free agency over a sign-and-trade to Milwaukee this week.
ESPN reported Thursday that the NBA is investigating whether the failed sign-and-trade agreement happened earlier than league rules allow, sources confirmed to ESPN.
Bogdanovic averaged 15.1 points, 3.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 29 minutes per game with the Sacramento Kings last season.
SUPERMAX FOR GIANNIS?
With the legal tampering windowing opening at 6pm et tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks can formally offer Giannis Antetokounmpo a five-year supermax contract extension worth $230 million.
The window to sign it closes Dec. 21.
The 25-year-old Antetokounmpo became the first player to win back-to-back regular season MVP awards since Steph Curry did it in 2015-16 and just the 14th player in league history to achieve the feat.
The Greece native led the Bucks to the league’s best record at 53-12 prior to the March shutdown and he led the Bucks in almost all major categories, including points (29.8), rebounds (13.7) and assists (5.7) per game.
The four-time all-star has seen an uptick in production every season he’s been in the league as his points and rebounds per game have been higher every season than the year prior.

LAKERS, RAPTORS INTRESTED IN TRISTAN THOMPSON
The Los Angeles Lakers would "love" to land Tristan Thompson, according to Sports Illustrated.
The ex-LeBron James teammate in Cleveland who would solve any issue the team has in the front court.
With Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka possibly on the way out, Toronto could look to pursue a big man, and Thompson might fit that roll.
Rockets, Magic discussed Westbrook deal
The Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic had discussed a trade featuring Russell Westbrook for a package centered around Aaron Gordon, but talks never progressed, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Clippers interested in Terry Rozier
The Los Angeles Clippers have explored a deal for Charlotte’s Terry Rozier, according to Chris Mannix.
Mannix adds that as ugly as the Clippers finish to last season was, there remains a possibility that the Clips could run back largely the same team has last season.
