NFL: Falcons 34, Colts 6

Atlanta Falcons quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Jack Strand took advantage of perhaps their last opportunity to shine this season. Rush, who was signed last month, and Strand, an undrafted rookie, completed 16 of their first 17 throws while leading the Falcons to scores on five of their first six drives in a 34-6 rout of the Indianapolis Colts, snapping Atlanta's eight-game preseason losing streak.

Joshua Dobbs ran for a 50-yard touchdown and the Detroit Lions held on for a 17-13 preseason win against the Washington Commanders on Saturday.


NFL: Eagles 21, Patriots 24

Tommy DeVito threw for 151 yards and a touchdown for the Patriots, while Kyle Williams brought down a pair of receptions for a touchdown and 74 yards and the Patriots bested the Eagles in preseason action.

Shedeur Sanders threw a touchdown pass and made good decisions in perhaps his last chance to convince coach Todd Monken he should be Cleveland's starting quarterback in the Browns' 31-7 preseason loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

Mendoza throws pick-six, struggles in second preseason game in Raiders' win over Texans

Fernando Mendoza struggled in his second preseason game, throwing an interception that Houston returned for a touchdown before the Las Vegas Raiders rallied late for a 22-20 victory over the Texans on Thursday night. Mendoza played the first half and went 8 of 15 for 86 yards. The late preseason game Thursday night between the 49ers and Chargers saw starting quarterbacks Brock Purdy and Justin Herbert each play one series for their respective teams. Purdy went 4 of 6 for 29 yards, and Herbert went 1 of 2 for nine.
