McKenna 'super excited' by Leafs' free agency moves as whirlwind week continues

Gavin McKenna hasn't had a lot of time to digest the whirlwind week he has had since being drafted by the Maple Leafs. The dynamic forward had a chance to put on the jersey during development camp on Thursday and he spoke about hitting the ice, his reaction to Toronto's moves to kick off free agency and learning from the veterans on the team.

Habs ink Demidov to 8-year extension; Jets sign G Skinner; Canucks lock up Oleksiak, Schenn

The Canadiens have signed forward Ivan Demidov to a eight-year, $73.2 million contract extension that carries a cap hit of $9.15 million. The Jets inked goaltender Stuart Skinner to a two-year, $7.5 million contract, while the Canucks have signed defenceman Jamie Oleksiak to a two-year, $10 million deal and brought back Luke Schenn for a third stint with the club.


Bolts sign Carlson to 2-year deal; Sharks ink Marchment, Trouba; Rangers flip Trocheck to Utah

The Lightning have signed defenceman John Carlson to a two-year, $17 million deal. The Sharks spent some big money in free agency, inking Mason Marchment to a five-year, $33.75 million contract and defenceman Jacob Trouba to a four-year deal with an AAV of $8.25 million. Vincent Trocheck also found a new home on Wednesday, as the Rangers dealt him to the Mammoth in exchange for defenceman Sean Durzi, forward Cole Beaudoin and a 2027 third-round pick.
