Senators forward Greig suspended for first two games of 2026-27 regular season

Senators forward Ridly Greig has been suspended for the first two games of the 2026-2027 NHL regular season for roughing Hurricanes defenceman Sean Walker in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series. Greig threw an uppercut that caught Walker up high and dropped him down to the ice while he was tied up in a scrum.

NHL: Canadiens 2, Lightning 1

Alex Newhook was the hero, scoring his first goal of the playoffs with just under nine minutes remaining, as the Canadiens held off the Lightning on Sunday to win Game 7 and advance to the second round. Every game of the series was settled by one goal, and four of seven games needed overtime. MTL wins series 4-3.


NHL: Wild 6, Avalanche 9

Cale Makar scored twice in the third period and had an assist as the Avalanche outlasted the Wild in high-scoring Game 1 clash in Colorado. Devon Toews had a goal and three assists, Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and two assists, and Sam Malinski and Artturi Lehkonen each had a goal and an assist. COL leads series 1-0.


Maple Leafs hiring Sundin, Chayka to lead revamped front office

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the hiring of former captain Mats Sundin as senior executive advisor, hockey operations, and John Chayka as the 19th general manager in franchise history. The pair will take over from former GM Brad Treliving, who was fired on March 30, near the end of his third season with the team.

Alex Newhook batted a goal in out of mid-air to send the Canadiens past the Lightning and into the second round of the playoffs, earning him Ultimate Performer Powered by Stihl honours for Sunday night.
