NHL: Kraken 1, Oilers 3

Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist to give him nine points through three games as the Oilers beat the Kraken on Saturday night. Owen Michaels and Leon Draisaitl also scored for Edmonton while Devon Levi made 19 saves to earn the win.


NHL: Canadiens 5, Penguins 6 (OT)

Tommy Novak scored his second goal of the game in overtime to give the Penguins a victory over the Canadiens on Saturday night. Novak converted a 2-on-1 from Evgeni Malkin at 1:33 of overtime, as Pittsburgh recovered after allowing a four-goal lead in the second period slip away.


NHL: Senators 3, Maple Leafs 2

Stephen Halliday broke a tie at 9:46 of the third period, Linus Ullmark made 27 saves, and the Senators opened their season with a victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Auston Matthews and Kirill Marchenko scored for Toronto, and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 26 shots.


NHL: Ducks 4, Golden Knights 3

Leo Carlsson had a goal and an assist, Lukas Dostal made 27 saves and the Ducks opened the season by holding off the Golden Knights 4-3 on Friday night.


NHL: Blues 4, Stars 0

Mason McTavish scored only 94 seconds into his first game with the Blues to put them ahead to stay, Joel Hofer stopped 25 shots for his ninth career shutout and St. Louis won 4-0 at Dallas on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.


NHL: Bruins 4, Jets 3 (OT)

Elias Lindholm tied the game with 1:38 left in regulation and JJ Peterka scored at 3:21 of overtime to give the Bruins a 4-3 victory over the Jets on Friday night. Dylan DeMelo, Kyle Connor and Mario Ferraro scored for Winnipeg in the Jets opener. Stuart Skinner stopped 26 shots.


NHL: Rangers 2, Red Wings 0

Dylan Garand made 23 saves for his first career shutout and the Rangers spoiled the Red Wings' opener with a 2-0 victory on Friday. Sean Durzi scored on a first-period power play and Eeli Tolvanen added an empty-netter.


NHL: Capitals 5, Hurricanes 2

Alex Tuch scored twice in his first game for Washington, Alex Ovechkin opened his 22nd NHL season with an assist and the Capitals beat the Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes 5-2 on Friday night.
