Ultimate Performer Powered by Stihl: Alex Newhook

Alex Newhook batted a goal in out of mid-air to send the Canadiens past the Lightning and into the second round of the playoffs, earning him Ultimate Performer Powered by Stihl honours for Sunday night.

NHL: Canadiens 2, Lightning 1

Alex Newhook was the hero, scoring his first goal of the playoffs with just under nine minutes remaining, as the Canadiens held off the Lightning on Sunday to win Game 7 and advance to the second round. Every game of the series was settled by one goal, and four of seven games needed overtime. MTL wins series 4-3.

NHL: Flyers 0, Hurricanes 3

Logan Stankoven scored a pair of goals to continue his postseason tear, Frederik Andersen made 19 saves for his second shutout of these playoffs, and the Hurricanes blanked the Flyers on Saturday night to open the second-round series. CAR leads series 1-0.

Oilers express extreme urgency with clock ticking on Stanley Cup window
