Canucks acquire Gallagher from Canadiens; Leafs re-sign Stecher, Maccelli not qualified
The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Brendan Gallagher to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for future considerations, and will retain 50 per cent of Gallagher’s $6.5 million cap hit in the final season of his deal. TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston confirms Troy Stecher is signing a two-year, $2.7 million deal with the Leafs ahead of his unrestricted free agency, but Matias Maccelli’s time with the Leafs is over as the winger has not been given a qualifying offer by the team and will become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
