Jets' Morrissey day-to-day with upper-body injury

Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Morrissey sustained the injury during the team's win over the Avalanche on Wednesday. Head coach Scott Arniel said that he's not concerned for Morrissey's health long-term.

NHL: Maple Leafs 3, Golden Knights 4 (SO)

Led by Jack Eichel's penalty shot goal and an earlier assist, the Golden Knights climbed out of an 0-3 hole to beat the Maple Leafs in a shootout. Sergei Bobrovsky made 40 saves in the loss for Toronto.


NHL: Avalanche 7, Flames 3

Cale Makar had two goals and an assist, Devon Toews and Jaden Schwartz also each scored twice and Nathan MacKinnon added a goal and two helpers as the Avalanche beat the winless Flames in a rout.


NHL: Sharks 3, Blues 2 (OT)

Darnell Nurse scored 1:03 into overtime as the Sharks beat the Blues. Tyler Toffoli and Collin Graf also scored, and Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 24 shots for San Jose, which has secured each of its three wins in overtime.


NHL: Predators 5, Canadiens 2

Ryan O’Reilly scored the go-ahead goal with 3:16 remaining, as the Predators rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Canadiens. Adam Edstrom added a pair of empty-net goals for Nashville, which was outshot 34-18. Jacob Fowler stopped 15 shots for Montreal, who are now winless in three games.


NHL: Canucks 2, Hurricanes 7

Logan Stankoven scored a natural hat trick, lighting the lamp even strength, shorthanded and on the power play as the Hurricanes routed the Canucks. Jake DeBrusk scored twice in the loss.


NHL: Flyers 1, Senators 2

Carter Yakemchuk broke a tie on a power play with 6:59 left as the Senators held on to beat the winless Flyers in Ottawa's home opener. Linus Ullmark made 29 saves to help the Senators improve to 3-1-0.

Bo Horvat scored twice and Ilya Sorokin made 22 saves as the Islanders beat the Blackhawks. New York won for the second time in three games. Frank Nazar scored for Chicago, which lost for the fourth time in five games to begin the season.


NHL: Mammoth 1, Bruins 6

David Pastrnak scored his first two goals of the season and added two assists as the Bruins routed the Mammoth. Jeremy Swayman made 36 saves in the victory.


NHL: Wild 2, Lightning 3

Defenseman John Carlson scored twice for his 11th career multi-goal game, Nikita Kucherov had two assists and Dennis Hildeby made 34 saves in the Lightning's victory over the Wild.


NHL: Stars 4, Sabres 0

Mikko Rantanen had a goal and three assists, and Jake Oettinger made 26 saves for his second straight shutout as the Stars blanked the Sabres.Oettinger has 18 career shutouts. He stopped 13 shots Monday night in a 5-0 home victory over San Jose.
