Two points back of a playoff spot, skidding Senators host Sabres on TSN

The Senators have eight games remaining in the regular season to hunt down a playoff spot. Ottawa, which has dropped three straight, is two points back of the Blue Jackets and continue their playoff push with a home game against the Sabres Thursday night. NHL: Golden Knights 5, Mammoth 1

Mitch Marner scored twice, including a power play goal late in the third period that put the game out of reach, to lead the Golden Knights to a win over the Mammoth and into the second round. Marner also added an assist on Brett Howden's fourth goal of the playoffs. VGK wins series 4-2.


NHL: Sabres 4, Bruins 1

Alex Tuch, Mattias Samuelsson, Zach Benson and Josh Norris scored to help the Sabres beat the Bruins and win their first playoff series since 2007. Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin each had two assists, and Alex Lyon made 25 saves. BUF wins series 4-2.


NHL: Lightning 1, Canadiens 0 (OT)

Gage Goncalves played hero in overtime, scoring his first goal of the playoffs to help the Lightning beat the Canadiens and force a deciding Game 7 in Tampa Bay. Andrei Vasilevskiy turned away numerous odd-man rushes and made 30 saves to outduel Jakub Dobeš and earn the shutout. Series tied 3-3.


Canadiens look to clinch series win at home for first time since 2015

The Canadiens are looking to clinch a series win in front of a full capacity home crowd for the first time since 2015 and have a 7-1 series record when Game 6 is on home ice. Meanwhile, the Lightning are hoping to avoid a fourth straight first round exit tonight in Montreal.
