Summer McIntosh wins silver in 200m individual medley at Pan Pacific Championships

Canadian Summer McIntosh was out-touched for gold by 0.02 seconds in the women’s 200-metre individual medley at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships on Saturday. The reigning Olympic and world champion from Toronto took silver behind China's Yu Yiting, who set a championship record with a time of two minutes 7.45 seconds.

Ontario’s Michael Bandler captures three golds and a silver medal in powerlifting

Ontario’s Michael Bandler had a huge day on the powerlifting platform, earning three gold medals and one silver in the 105.01–120kg weight class. Bandler won gold in the squat (215kg) and deadlift (232.5kg), added silver in the bench press (132.5kg) and took overall gold with a combined 580kg — or 1,279 pounds — across the three lifts.


American Samoa stuns USA at flag football worlds; Canadian men suffer first loss

Led by Taulia Tagovailoa, Tua's younger brother, American Samoa upset the Americans at the flag football world championship with Tagovailoa throwing five TDs to put an end to the USA's 14-year unbeaten run. Elsewhere, the Canadian men lost their first game of the tournament to Japan and the Canadian women beat Japan in their final preliminary round game.
