Cross, Thunderbirds snap Belleville's streak with 4-3 win in overtime

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Tommy Cross scored with 51 seconds to play in overtime to send the Springfield Thunderbirds to a 4-3 victory over the Belleville Senators in American Hockey League action Saturday night.

Cross added two assists for the three-point game for Springfield (36-20-5-2), which remain atop the Atlantic Division.

Dakota Joshua, on the power play, Nikita Alexandrov and James Neal also scored. Matthew Peca had two assists and Joel Hofer made 22 saves.

Belleville (31-24-4-0) saw its two-game win streak come to an end. Clark Bishop, with a short-handed goal, Roby Jarventie and Jake Lucchini converted for the Senators in defeat. Goalie Michael McNiven made 31 saves.

Springfield outshot Belleville 35-28.
