Connor McDavid will play his 800th NHL game tonight.
The Edmonton Oilers captain has already registered more points through 800 career games than any skaters in NHL history outside of Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.
With all 32 NHL teams in action for the fourth edition of the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy, no player is considered more likely to add to their point total than McDavid at FanDuel.
McDavid to register 1+ points against the Los Angeles Kings is -460 – an 82.1 per cent implied probability.
McDavid to register 2+ points is +102 at FanDuel.
The trio of McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard have combined for 12 goals and 34 points in five games.
Edmonton is -132 to end its California road trip with a win against a winless Kings side that is suddenly dealing with a long list of injuries up front.
McDavid to score a goal in his 800th career NHL game is +125 at FanDuel this morning.
With all 32 teams in action across 16 games beginning at 6 PM ET, it’s a good time to revisit FanDuel’s NHL markets with a quick look at how all seven Canadian teams have fared and try to find a couple of winners for tonight.
Let’s go coast-to-coast in this Morning Coffee column for Tuesday October 13th, 2026.
McDavid’s 800th Game, A Maple Leafs Revival, And A Frozen Frenzy Of Goals
Slow starts have been an issue for Edmonton in recent seasons.
This time around, the Oilers are off to a hot start with four straight wins and a 4-0-1 record.
Edmonton will lose eventually, and Los Angeles will win eventually, but it’s the Oilers that are the road favourite at -132 to extend their win streak tonight at FanDuel.
As for the big picture, Edmonton to win the Stanley Cup is +950 as the fourth choice on the board behind the Colorado Avalanche (+650), Carolina Hurricanes (+650), and the Florida Panthers (+900) at FanDuel.
The Oilers can still be found at the exact same odds they had at the start of September, but it’s a different story for the other Canadian teams.
The Ottawa Senators have gone from +3000 to +2200 to win the Stanley Cup at FanDuel following a 5-1-0 start.
Ottawa is -118 to beat the St. Louis Blues on home ice.
The Montreal Canadiens have trended in the opposite direction early on, with their odds to win it all climbing from +2200 to +3000 following a 2-2-1 start.
With Jakob Dobes struggling and Samuel Montembault injured, the Habs called up 21-year-old Jacob Fowler.
The rookie Fowler stopped all 30 shots he faced and didn’t allow a goal in the shootout of a 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night at the Bell Centre.
Montreal is -160 to beat the Buffalo Sabres with Fowler in net for a playoff rematch tonight, then will travel to face the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
Fowler and Dobes should split those two starts with Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis likely riding the hot hand in Saturday night’s rematch versus Buffalo.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Leafs are still +3300 to win the Stanley Cup at FanDuel this morning.
Toronto earned three of a possible four points in the first two games of a brutal three-game road trip that features the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, and a date with the Utah Mammoth tonight.
While keeping pucks out of their net remains a work in progress, Toronto has found a spark up front with an average of 4.66 goals per game over their last three.
William Nylander and Auston Matthews have combined for 21 points through six games.
Calder Trophy favourite Gavin McKenna hasn’t looked out of place with four points in his last three games.
The Maple Leafs are +130 to end their three-game trip with an upset win tonight in Utah.
The schedule becomes much more manageable after that with games against the Sabres, New York Islanders, and San Jose Sharks on home ice around the corner.
The Winnipeg Jets had their three-game win streak snapped in a 5-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
The loss also snapped a streak of three consecutive games with exactly two goals allowed.
With Connor Hellebucyk suspended, Stuart Skinner and Clay Stevenson have a combined .905 save percentage.
Skinner will face his former Oilers teammate Calvin Pickard when the Jets host the Minnesota Wild tonight.
That game is currently a pick’em at FanDuel.
While Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto are all considered more likely to make than miss the playoffs at FanDuel this morning, Edmonton is the only Canadian team expected to reach the postseason in the Western Conference.
Winnipeg remains a playoff longshot at +180.
Then there’s the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames.
After winning two of their first three, the Canucks have dropped four straight and have been outscored 20-7.
The schedule hasn’t helped Vancouver’s outlook, with a six-game east coast road trip that continues tonight against the Islanders before stops in Florida and Tampa.
The Canucks are +180 to upset the Islanders tonight.
Meanwhile, the Flames are +168 to upset the Ducks.
Calgary is 0-5-0 and has failed to cover the puck line in any game this season.
The Flames hung around with Anaheim in the opener of a home-and-home series on Saturday but gave up a shorthanded goal early in the third period of a 4-2 loss.
Calgary is now a +160 favourite to finish with the worst record in the NHL this season.
Vancouver is the second choice in that market at +320.
A three-team parlay with the Oilers to win plus both the Flames and Canucks to lose pays +280 at FanDuel.
FanDuel also has a long list of puck drop specials available to wager on tonight, including the over/under for the total number of goals set at 99.5.
All 32 NHL teams to record 17+ shots on goal is -150.
Every team to record 3+ shots on goal in each period is currently -105.
McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Macklin Celebrini are co-favourites to register the most shots on goal tonight at +2200 odds.
Matthews is +3300, Cole Caufield is +3500, and there is a long list of players available at +20000 to record the most shots on goal tonight.
For my FanDuel Best Bet, I’m going to lock in Bobby McMann of the Seattle Kraken to register 3+ shots on goal at +108 at FanDuel.
McMann has registered 3+ shots on goal in all six of his games this season, averaging 3.67 on 6.33 attempts.
Tonight, the Kraken face a winless Philadelphia side that ranks 32nd in the NHL with an average of 35.1 shots on goal per game allowed this season.
That number includes an average of 7.4 shots on goal per game allowed to opposing left wingers.
McMann 3+ shots on goal at +108 is the FanDuel Best Bet.
Hopefully, we can pick up where we left off last night in the NFL with a couple of winners.
Have a great day, everyone!
