Montreal Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander is dealing with some soreness in practice, but the pivot told TSN’s Kenzie Lalonde that there is “no chance” he considered taking the week off.
Alexander appeared to suffer a knee injury late in the team’s 44-28 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, but he was able to finish the game. He was brilliant in the defeat, throwing for 257 yards and four touchdowns.
Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia told the media that there was a little bit of panic when he saw Alexander go down late in the game, but that the medical team reassured him and the Als’ coaching staff that there was nothing seriously wrong with their top quarterback.
Per Lalonde, Alexander is practicing with limited mobility ahead of Friday’s tilt against the BC Lions, but that was “part of the plan.”
Alexander leads the CFL with 3,657 passing yards and is tied for the top spot in the league with 24 passing touchdowns through 13 weeks of action.
The Alouettes enter Friday’s game against BC at 9-2, still four games ahead of the Toronto Argonauts for the top spot in the East Division. Their loss against Winnipeg snapped a seven-game winning streak and allowed the Edmonton Elks, who were off in Week 13, to pull within one game for the best record in the CFL.
