TORONTO — Defensive back Kabion Ento has been named the CFL’s top player of the week after he helped the Montreal Alouettes to a blowout victory over the Ottawa Redblacks.
The 30-year-old American recorded his second career touchdown in the 46-16 victory on Thursday, picking off a Jake Maier pass in the second quarter and driving up the field unimpeded for the major.
Ento set up another touchdown for the Alouettes (9-1) in the second quarter with a forced fumble, and recorded a defensive tackle.
Montreal quarterback Davis Alexander also received player of the week honours for his performance in the win, which included 260 passing yards with two touchdowns.
It was the fifth time this season the 27-year-old American has been named a player of the week.
Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke got a nod, too, for helping B.C. to a fourth straight win with a 355-yard, two-touchdown outing.
The Lions (5-5) topped the Saskatchewan Roughriders 30-16 on Sunday.
