Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros appears set to return to the field for a crucial Week 19 matchup against the Calgary Stampeders.
Collaros was back practicing and taking first team reps with Winnipeg’s offence on Thursday in preparation for the team’s Saturday contest against the Stamps.
The 38-year-old was a limited participant during Wednesday’s practice session the day before, according to the team’s injury report.
Collaros was placed on the six-game injured list two weeks ago, missing the past two games with a head injury. On the year, the veteran has completed 70.6 per cent of his passes for 2,204 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions across nine games.
Across 181 career regular-season CFL games, Collaros has completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 38,187 yards, 227 touchdowns, and 123 interceptions. He is a three-time Grey Cup champion and two-time CFL Most Outstanding Player.
If Collaros does not get the start, it will be Dru Brown in line once again. The 29-year-old has completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 1,502 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions this season.
Winnipeg (7-8) enters Week 19 on the outside looking in of the playoff picture, sitting a half game back of the Stampeders (8-8) for the crossover. The winner of Saturday’s matchup will also claim in what could be a playoff-deciding tiebreaker.
