Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros has been placed on the six-game injured list, it was announced Saturday.

Head coach Mike O’Shea originally told reporters he would not play in Sunday’s Week 7 matchup with the Ottawa Redblacks. Now, he will be out for far longer.

Collaros was also ruled out for the team’s matchup against the Toronto Argonauts in Week 6 due to a neck injury.

While Collaros was listed as a “DNP” for both of Winnipeg’s practices on the Week 7 injury report, he was spotted in full gear, according to Blue Bombers reporter Ed Tait.

The 14-year veteran suffered the initial injury in the team’s 14-13 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 5.

While it was Canadian rookie Taylor Elgersma taking over for Collaros in Week 5, it was the newly acquired Dru Brown starting at quarterback for the Bombers in the team’s 30-21 Week 6 win over Toronto.

The 29-year-old completed 25-of-31 passes for 339 yards and one touchdown, earning Player of the Week recognition.

As for Week 7’s preparation against Ottawa, it was Brown taking the first-team reps this week, according to Tait.

Brown spent the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Blue Bombers before joining the Redblacks in 2024. After starting the past two seasons in Ottawa, Brown requested a trade out of Ottawa when the team brought in Jake Maier this past off-season and subsequently named him the Week 1 starter.

Brown threw for 2,389 yards in 11 games in the nation’s capital last season, with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
