BC Lions owner Amar Doman believes Tommy Nield’s game-winning touchdown that gave the Saskatchewan Roughriders the win over the BC Lions in the Western Final on Saturday should not have been ruled a catch.
Doman took to Instagram and shared a pair of images -- which originated from Reddit, according to TSN Football Insider Farhan Lalji -- that showed the tail end of the play. One of the photos has a caption reading “Not a catch.”

The three-yard touchdown catch came on first and goal with 11 seconds to go in the fourth quarter and was the deciding blow in the Riders’ comeback win.
The command centre reviewed the play for more than two minutes and determined the call on the field should stand, giving Saskatchewan the major and eventually the win. A play can only be overturned when there is clear and obvious reason to do so.
“I knew I caught it the whole time. Then I’m seeing the review, and I’m like, ‘Is there something they saw?’ because you never know what’s going to happen there. I was just sitting there waiting, making sure I didn’t do all that celebrating for it to get turned over,” Nield said after the game.
The Riders will face the Montreal Alouettes in the Grey Cup in Winnipeg next Sunday on Nov. 16.
