The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are making a change at quarterback, as the team named Tre Ford the starter under centre for their Week 7 game against the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.
Ford, 28, came on in relief of injured starter Bo Levi Mitchell in the Tiger-Cats’ 14-13 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 5.
Shortly after that game, it was announced that Mitchell would miss time after undergoing successful surgery to repair a broken ankle.
The Tiger-Cats elected to go with Jake Dolegala at quarterback for their Week 6 battle against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where the veteran struggled - throwing for just 122 yards and an interception in a 38-7 drubbing against the defending Grey Cup champions.
Now the Tiger-Cats turn to Ford to get their season back on track, looking to snap a two-game losing skid in hosting the Argonauts in the Battle of the QEW.
On the season, Ford has completed eight of 13 passes for 59 yards and an interception. The fifth-year player made 60 appearances in his first four seasons in the league with the Edmonton Elks.
In 65 career games, the native of Niagara Falls, Ont. has completed 367 of 547 passes for 4,710 yards, with 29 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
