Eunji Gim and her rink from Uijeongbu, South Korea were victorious at the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic this past weekend in Vernon B.C.
The foursome defeated Japan’s Team Yuina Miura in the final by a score of 5-2.
Team Gim went 5-0 in the round robin before defeating last season’s British Columbia champion Team Taylor Reese-Hansen in the quarter-final and South Korea Team Kang in the semi-final.
Reese-Hansen’s rink was the only Canadian team to make the playoffs in Vernon as the likes of Team Serena Gray-Withers (3-2), Team Kayla MacMillan (3-2), Team Selena Sturmay (2-3), Team Kayla Skrlik (3-2) and Team Selena Njegovan (2-3) all missed the cut.
Gim, fourth Min-Ji Kim, second Ye-ji Seol and lead Ye-eun Seol are ranked third in the world and winning their fourth straight Korean Curling Championship in June.
The men’s event concludes on Monday.
