Theegala clubhouse leader in first round of RBC Canadian Open; Svensson low Canadian

Published:

CALEDON — Sahith Theegala is the clubhouse leader in the first round of the RBC Canadian Open.

The American fired a 6-under 64 during the morning wave at TPC Toronto.

Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C., was in a seven-way tie for second, a shot back of Theegala.

A heavy rainfall around 10 a.m. local time softened the North Course, leading to softer greens.

Reigning champion Ryan Fox of New Zealand teed off in the afternoon wave.

Fox was in the marquee group with Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., who won the national men’s golf championship in 2023.
