The Los Angeles Angels have traded starting pitcher Jose Soriano to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Blue Jays announced.
The Jays will send shortstop Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti, and RHP Angel Rivero to the Angels.
Soriano, 27, has a 9-6 record with a 3.29 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 123.0 innings pitched with the Angels this season.
The 6-foot-3 righty is on a one-year, $2.9 million contract with two years of arbitration remaining before he is eligible to become a free agent after the 2028 campaign.
Originally signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Angels in 2016, Soriano has a career 26-27 record with a 3.72 ERA and 432 strikeouts in four seasons.
Soriano solidified himself in the Angels’ starting rotation last season, going 10-11 with a 4.26 ERA while striking out 152 batters in 169.0 innings.
Nimmala, 20, was one of the Blue Jays’ top hitting prospects and MLB’s No. 43 overall prospect. He has eight home runs, 34 RBI and six stolen bases in 62 games across four levels (Double-A, High-A, Low-A, and Rookie Ball) this season.
Micheletti, 24, played in 93 in Double-A, slashing .251/.347/.454 with 20 doubles, four triples, 14 home runs, and 45 RBI.
Rivero, 19, made 12 appearances (nine starts) in Rookie-Ball this season, recording a 2.36 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP,
