The playoff hopeful Toronto Blue Jays have made a handful of moves with rosters expanding as the calendar flips to September.
Left-handed pitcher Ricky Tiedemann and infielder Sean Keys have been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo while left-handed pitcher Joe Mantiply (left knee inflammation) and infielder Josh Smith (left hamstring inflammation) were reinstated from the injured list.
In a corresponding move, outfielder Daz Cameron was designated for assignment. The Jays also announced right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson has elected free agency after clearing waivers.
Keys, a 23-year-old left-handed hitter, appeared in 12 games for the Blue Jays earlier this season, hitting .167 with home run and five RBIs.
Ranked sixth in the Jays’ prospects ranking, Keys is having a strong season in the minors, hitting .294 with 28 homers and 80 RBIs over 100 games split between Triple-A and Double-A.
Tiedemann, 24, made his MLB debut on Aug. 15, allowing one run, two hits and striking out two over 1.2 innings of work.
Once a top prospect in the Jays’ organization, Tiedemann has dealt with injuries and setbacks since being selected in the third-round of the 2021 MLB Draft.
Tiedemann, who didn’t pitch at all during the 2025 season, owns a 3.75 ERA over 11 appearances in the minors this season.
Mantiply, 35, hasn’t pitched since May 17, but owns a solid 2.04 ERA over 17 games.
The 29-year-old Smith was acquired from the Texas Rangers ahead of the trade deadline and appeared in 14 games for the Jays before getting injured.
Cameron, 29, hit .208 with one home run and three RBI over eight games in his brief time with the Blue Jays.
