Toronto Blue Jays infielder Lenyn Sosa has cleared outright assignment waivers and is heading to Triple-A Buffalo, the team announced Tuesday.
He was also reinstated from the 60-day injured list.
Sosa has been out since May 26 due to a right-wrist contusion. He was transferred to the 60-day IL earlier this month.
The 26-year-old was acquired by the Jays earlier this season from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for outfielder Jordan Rich and future considerations. He played in 28 games with the Jays before going down.
Sosa is slashing .195/.207/.283 with one home run and nine RBI in 40 combined games so far this season. He had 22 homers and 75 RBI in 140 games with Chicago last season.
The Blue Jays enter play Tuesday half a game back of the final American League wild-card spot at 61-65.
